Egypt marks World Civil Defence Day 2026, reaffirming commitment to environmental risk preparedness

The General Administration of Civil Protection of the Arab Republic of Egypt joined the international community in observing World Civil Defence Day, marked annually on 1 March, highlighting the vital role of civil protection services in safeguarding lives, property and the environment, in line with the objectives of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO).

This year’s observance was held under the theme “Managing Environmental Risks for a Resilient and Sustainable Future”, emphasizing the importance of preparedness to address environmental challenges, including climate-related risks and natural disasters.

On this occasion, the General Administration of Civil Protection reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing readiness, strengthening emergency response capacities, and promoting public awareness on safety and risk reduction through continuous training and the modernization of equipment.

The observance also underlined the importance of recognizing the efforts and sacrifices of civil protection personnel across ICDO Member States.
