On September 3, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO) Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, met with the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, H.E. Mr. Galib Israfilov.

The discussions highlighted the strong cooperation between the ICDO and the Republic of Azerbaijan. It was underlined that on 8–10 July this year, the 58th Session of the ICDO Executive Council and the 3rd Extraordinary Session of the General Assembly were successfully convened in Baku, marking a significant milestone in the history of the Organization. These events were recognized as a clear demonstration of the close and trust-based partnership between the ICDO and Azerbaijan.

Secretary-General Arguj Kalantarli expressed confidence that this cooperation will continue to deepen on the basis of mutual benefit. H.E. Mr. Galib Israfilov, in turn, reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s strong commitment to international cooperation in the field of civil defence and disaster risk management, stressing the importance of joint initiatives with the ICDO in this regard.

The meeting further served as an opportunity to exchange views on future avenues of cooperation and potential joint initiatives aimed at strengthening the role and activities of the ICDO.
