The Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, met with Dr. Rakesh Krishnan, General Manager of the Geneva School of Diplomacy (GSD), at ICDO Headquarters in Geneva on 16 October 2026.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on strengthening institutional ties between the two organizations, with particular attention to academic exchange, professional development and capacity-building.

Building on the existing Memorandum of Understanding between ICDO and GSD, the discussions explored future opportunities to further develop joint initiatives, facilitate expert exchanges and promote knowledge-sharing in the fields of civil protection and disaster risk management.

Both sides expressed their shared commitment to constructive institutional dialogue and continued engagement in pursuit of their common objectives. They also underlined the importance of exploring practical avenues for cooperation that could strengthen professional expertise, foster partnerships and contribute to enhanced disaster preparedness and resilience.
