On 28 October 2025, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, met with H.E. Ambassador Alaa Hegazy, Permanent Representative of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

The discussion focused on strengthening cooperation between the ICDO and Egypt in the fields of civil defence, disaster risk reduction, and emergency preparedness. Both sides exchanged views on Egypt’s extensive national experience in disaster management and civil protection, highlighting the country’s strategic role in promoting resilience and emergency response capacities at both the national and regional levels.

The parties also explored opportunities for the development of joint initiatives and projects aimed at enhancing institutional capacities, facilitating training programmes, and promoting the exchange of expertise within the ICDO framework.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment to continued dialogue and practical cooperation to strengthen national and regional resilience, support capacity-building efforts, and contribute to the protection of lives and communities through effective international collaboration.
