On 4 November 2025, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, met with Mr. Tšiu Khathibe, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Lesotho to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

The discussion focused on strengthening cooperation between ICDO and the Kingdom of Lesotho in the fields of civil defence, disaster risk reduction, and emergency preparedness. Both sides exchanged views on enhancing national capacities and institutional frameworks for effective disaster management and response.

The parties also discussed opportunities to develop joint activities and projects aimed at strengthening technical cooperation, knowledge exchange, and capacity-building in the area of civil protection — including the potential for students to pursue studies in partner institutions of Member States based on mutual agreements.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment to continued dialogue and practical cooperation to advance common objectives in protecting lives and enhancing resilience to disasters and emergencies.
