On 8 December 2025, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, met with the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, H.E. Mr. Galib Israfilov. The meeting took place at ICDO’s new Headquarters, located in the Nations District in Geneva.

The meeting provided an opportunity for a constructive exchange on ICDO’s ongoing institutional modernization and reform activities, as well as current and upcoming projects being implemented within the framework of the Organization’s mandate. The Secretary-General briefed the Ambassador on the measures taken to ensure the full operationalization of ICDO's functions in its new Headquarters, including the reform and enhancement of the International Monitoring and Coordination Centre (IMCC) in a more advanced and modern format.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed prospects for further strengthening bilateral cooperation, including opportunities to deepen engagement with relevant institutions and academic entities. The successful convening of the latest session of ICDO’s International Scientific and Practical Conference, held in October of this year, was highlighted as a positive example of continued collaboration and the growing contribution of Azerbaijan to ICDO’s international activities.

The meeting also reaffirmed the longstanding partnership between ICDO and the Republic of Azerbaijan, underscoring the shared commitment to enhancing civil protection mechanisms, improving preparedness and resilience, and advancing cooperative efforts.
