A delegation of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), headed by the Secretary-General, Arguj Kalantarli, arrived in the Russian Federation on an official visit to participate in the event marking the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters.

Within the framework of the visit, on 24 December, the Secretary-General met with the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu. During the meeting, the parties held an exchange of views on cooperation between the ICDO and the Russian Federation. Particular attention was given to prospects for further strengthening collaboration in the fields of civil defence, emergency preparedness, emergency response, and the mitigation of the consequences of emergencies.

The Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for the continued support extended to the ICDO and for the constructive engagement within the framework of international cooperation in civil protection. The parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in further deepening cooperation in areas of shared priority.

The meeting focused on issues related to the further development of cooperation between the ICDO and the Russian Federation.
