ICDO Secretary-General Meets with Chief Commissioner of the Malaysia Civil Defence Force

Within the framework of his official visit to Malaysia, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, met with Chief Commissioner of Malaysia Civil Defence Force Mr. Mohammad Abiddin bin Abd Rahman, on 19 January.

The meeting provided an opportunity for an exchange on issues of mutual interest, with a focus on enhancing practical interaction between the ICDO and the Malaysia Civil Defence Force. In this context, the Secretary-General noted Malaysia’s experience and capacities, and referred to the Malaysia Civil Defence Force as a reliable partner of the ICDO.

The parties also discussed the ICDO’s current priorities and activities carried out within the framework of its humanitarian mandate, including ongoing institutional reforms, modernization efforts, and active humanitarian initiatives, aimed at strengthening the Organization’s operational effectiveness and its capacity to support Member States. 

In this context, the Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for Malaysia’s openness to considering the hosting of future sessions of the ICDO General Assembly and Executive Council, as part of efforts to further strengthen engagement with the Organization and promote wider regional participation.

The meeting also underscored the mutual interest of both sides in further strengthening professional dialogue and advancing practical cooperation.
