The Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, paid an official visit to the State of Kuwait. Within the framework of this visit, he met with the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, H.E. Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, on 21 January.
The meeting provided an opportunity for an exchange of views on issues of mutual interest, with a focus on further strengthening cooperation between the ICDO and the State of Kuwait in the fields of civil defence, emergency preparedness and response, and related areas. In this context, the Secretary-General highlighted Kuwait’s experience and institutional capacities, referring to the State of Kuwait as a reliable partner of the ICDO.
During the meeting, the Secretary-General outlined the ICDO’s current priorities and activities carried out within the framework of its humanitarian mandate, including humanitarian projects, ongoing institutional reforms and modernization efforts, and initiatives aimed at enhancing the Organization’s operational effectiveness and its capacity to support Member States.
Additionally, during the meeting, the ICDO International Commander Medal was presented to H.E. Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah in recognition of his contribution and achievements in strengthening civil protection and crisis management.
The meeting also addressed further areas of shared interest and reaffirmed the mutual commitment of both sides to maintaining an active professional dialogue and further advancing practical cooperation.
