Within the framework of his official visit to the State of Kuwait, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, met with H.E. Major General Talal Mohammad Al-Roumi, Chief of the Kuwait Fire Force, on 22 January.

During the meeting, the parties welcomed the existing level of cooperation between the ICDO and the Kuwait Fire Force and emphasized the importance of further strengthening this partnership. The discussions addressed cooperation in the fields of civil defence, emergency preparedness and response, disaster consequence management, fire safety, as well as the organization of joint training programmes and exercises.

The parties also discussed the ongoing institutional reforms within the ICDO, along with activities carried out under its humanitarian mandate, including current humanitarian projects and efforts to enhance organizational effectiveness.

Additionally, reference was made to the presentation delivered previously on the Maritime Rescue Center, for which the Secretary-General expressed his appreciation and positively assessed the Center’s activities and capabilities.

The meeting concluded with an exchange on the capacities of the Kuwait Fire Force and on identifying practical directions to further advance cooperation.
