ICDO Secretary-General Meets the Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the UN Office at Geneva

On 17 February, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, met with H.E. Mr. Sharaf Sheralizoda, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, at the ICDO Headquarters.

The meeting focused on further strengthening cooperation between the ICDO and the Republic of Tajikistan in the fields of civil defence, disaster risk reduction, emergency preparedness and response. The parties exchanged views on enhancing collaboration in support of national and regional efforts aimed at reinforcing institutional capacities and resilience to emergencies and disasters. The issue of providing technical and humanitarian assistance was also discussed.

In this context, the Secretary-General briefed Mr. Ambassador on the ICDO’s ongoing activities carried out within the framework of its humanitarian mandate, including institutional reforms, modernization efforts, and planned humanitarian missions.

The meeting reaffirmed the mutual interest of both sides in further deepening dialogue and practical cooperation in pursuit of shared objectives in civil defence, humanitarian action, and disaster management.
