On 23 February 2026, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, participated in the official reception marking the construction milestone of the Portail des Nations – the future Visitor Centre of the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG).

On the margins of the reception, Mr. Arguj Kalantarli met with H.E. Ignazio Cassis, Federal Councillor and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, and reaffirmed the importance of strengthening international cooperation.

The event also brought together representatives of the diplomatic community and international organizations to mark the progress of this initiative aimed at enhancing public engagement with the work of the UN. The Portail des Nations is expected to play an important role in bringing its work closer to the public and promoting multilateral engagement.
