Within the framework of his official visit to the Republic of Serbia, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, heading the ICDO delegation, held a meeting with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Vladan Zagradjanin.
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on key priorities in the field of civil defence and emergency management. Both sides highlighted Serbia’s important role in international cooperation in civil protection, noting its practical and results-oriented approach to prevention, preparedness, and response to emergency situations.
Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in professional training and the exchange of expertise, with particular attention to practical cooperation, including specialized courses, joint exercises, and capacity-building initiatives, including through the Russian-Serbian Humanitarian Centre and involving experts from ICDO Member States.
In this context, the Secretary-General outlined ICDO’s ongoing modernization and reform efforts aimed at strengthening the Organization’s institutional resilience, enhancing its operational capacity, expanding its partnerships, and ensuring more effective implementation of its programmes and initiatives.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation and expressed confidence that, in the context of ICDO’s ongoing development, collaboration will continue to evolve in a more effective and forward-looking manner.
