Secretary-General of ICDO Pays Official Visit to the Kyrgyz Republic

On 6 April, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, heading an ICDO delegation, paid an official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic.

Within the framework of the visit, the Secretary-General held a meeting with the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Kanatbek Koichubekovich Chynybaev.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on key priorities in the field of civil defence and emergency management. Discussions focused on ongoing cooperation, as well as prospects for further strengthening collaboration between ICDO and the relevant national authorities of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The parties also discussed ICDO’s ongoing modernization and reform process, highlighting efforts aimed at strengthening the Organization’s institutional capacity, enhancing its effectiveness, and ensuring more efficient implementation of its programmes and activities. The importance of active engagement of Member States in this process was emphasized.

The parties highlighted the role of the ICDO Regional Humanitarian Office in the Kyrgyz Republic as a platform for coordination and the development of professional competencies in civil defence, and noted its contribution to strengthening regional cooperation and operational capacity.

In this context, the importance of further strengthening cooperation between ICDO and the Kyrgyz Republic was emphasized, along with enhancing joint efforts in professional training, the exchange of expertise, and the implementation of capacity-building initiatives aimed at strengthening preparedness and response capabilities.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation and expressed confidence in the continued development of mutually beneficial collaboration in the field of civil protection.
