On 7 August 2026, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, held an online meeting with Ms. Zenab Mahamat Adoum, Director General of Civil Protection of the Republic of Chad.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the ICDO and the Republic of Chad in the fields of civil protection, disaster risk reduction and emergency management, while underlining Chad's longstanding membership in the ICDO. The parties exchanged views on further developing the partnership between the Organization and Chad and explored opportunities for expanding practical cooperation.

Particular attention was devoted to ICDO training and capacity-building activities, including opportunities to enhance Chad’s participation in relevant programmes, technical cooperation initiatives and other activities aimed at strengthening national civil protection capacities.

The parties also exchanged views on the ongoing reform and modernization efforts within the ICDO aimed at enhancing the Organization’s effectiveness, operational capabilities and cooperation mechanisms. In this regard, the Secretary-General expressed his appreciation to the Chadian side for its continued support for the Organization’s ongoing initiatives and reform efforts.

The meeting was held in a constructive atmosphere and concluded with a reaffirmation of the shared commitment to further deepen cooperation and maintain regular dialogue on matters of common interest.
