The Public Security Directorate of Jordan marked World Civil Defence Day on Sunday, 1 March 2026, by holding a ceremony under the theme “Managing Environmental Risks for a Resilient and Sustainable Future.” The event reaffirmed Jordan’s commitment to strengthening civil defence capabilities and to protecting lives and property amid growing environmental and climate-related risks.
The ceremony highlighted the humanitarian and professional role of the Civil Defense Directorate across a wide range of emergency situations. It also underscored ongoing efforts to enhance preparedness for environmental hazards and disasters through the provision of advanced equipment and technologies, alongside sustained investment in personnel training aligned with international professional standards.
The event was attended by Brigadier General Nourz Hakouz, Assistant Director of Public Security for Judicial Affairs, Brigadier General Nasser Al-Swilemeen, Director of Civil Defense, and Candice Branchoux, Regional Director of Programs for Mercy Corps in Jordan, as well as senior officers and strategic partners. Their participation emphasized the national significance of World Civil Defence Day as an opportunity to reaffirm institutional commitment to disaster preparedness and environmental risk management.
