On 11 March, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, met with a delegation from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan at the ICDO Headquarters in Geneva.

The Secretary-General held discussions with the delegation, led by Mr. Farhad Samadov, Chief Military Expert of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and including other representatives of the Ministry, on further strengthening cooperation between the ICDO and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan, particularly in the areas of civil defence, disaster risk reduction, emergency preparedness and response, as well as capacity-building initiatives.

The discussions also focused on opportunities to expand practical cooperation and enhance coordination in support of international and regional efforts aimed at improving resilience to emergencies and disasters.

Both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in deepening collaboration and promoting joint initiatives within the framework of the ICDO’s humanitarian mandate.
