On 11 March, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, met with a delegation from the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters (EMERCOM of Russia) at the ICDO Headquarters in Geneva.

The Secretary-General held discussions with the delegation, led by Mr. Roman Kurynin, Deputy Minister of EMERCOM of Russia, and including other representatives of the Ministry.

During the meeting, particular attention was given to matters related to the recent Extraordinary Session of the Executive Council, taking into account the Presidency of the Russian Federation of the Executive Council, as well as to issues arising from the outcomes of the Session.

The parties also discussed further strengthening cooperation, particularly in the relevant areas of civil defence, as well as capacity-building initiatives.

The meeting also reaffirmed the mutual interest in further deepening collaboration and cooperation within the framework of the ICDO’s humanitarian mandate.
