Following his meeting with the Minister for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus, held at the Life Safety Educational Centre, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, was introduced to the Centre's innovative approaches to promoting public safety.

The delegation toured a number of interactive educational and training areas designed to realistically simulate emergency situations and demonstrate practical safety measures for different categories of the population. The Secretary-General was also introduced to the Centre's interactive educational facilities and modern methods of promoting safety awareness through practical and experience-based learning.

The Secretary-General highly appreciated the Centre's important role in promoting a culture of safety and public preparedness. Information was also provided on Belarus' nationwide network of life safety educational centres and the Ministry's efforts to strengthen public awareness through modern and interactive educational methods. The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss the sharing of Belarus' experience and best practices in safety education within the framework of the ICDO.
