An international training course organized by the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO) has concluded at the National School of Civil Protection of the Republic of Niger.

The course brought together representatives of the civil protection services of the Republic of Niger, Burkina Faso, Mali, Senegal, the Republic of the Congo, Guinea and Togo.

During the course, participants studied modern approaches to emergency monitoring using geographic information systems, satellite data and Earth observation technologies. The practical component focused on the use of the IMCC platform developed by ICDO to monitor forest fires, floods, earthquakes and other natural hazards in near real time.

Particular attention was devoted to spatial data analysis, risk assessment, the use of mapping services and the application of digital tools to support decision-making during emergency response operations.

The course marked another stage in the implementation of ICDO’s programme aimed at strengthening the capacities of its Member States and promoting international cooperation in the field of civil protection. It contributed to improving the professional preparedness of specialists and supporting the integration of modern technologies into the work of national emergency response services.
