The international training course “Urban Search and Rescue Operations in Collapsed Buildings and Structures” has successfully concluded at the Russian-Armenian Center for Humanitarian Response (RACHR).

The programme brought together 12 specialists from ICDO Member States, representing Algeria, Armenia, Egypt, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Mongolia, Oman, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, and the Syrian Arab Republic.

Over the course of two weeks, participants completed an intensive programme combining theoretical instruction with practical field exercises under the guidance of RACHR instructors. The training focused on urban search and rescue operations in collapsed buildings, the use of specialized rescue equipment, and techniques for moving heavy loads using improvised means and rope rescue systems.

Practical modules enabled participants to develop operational skills in challenging environments, including examination scenarios conducted at night and under limited visibility conditions. Particular emphasis was placed on coordination between rescue teams, teamwork, and the exchange of professional experience among specialists from different countries.

The programme concluded with a theoretical examination conducted through the Russian-Armenian Center for Humanitarian Response's online educational platform.

Upon successful completion of the course, all participants received personalized certificates. International training programmes of this kind contribute to strengthening the operational capabilities of ICDO Member States and further promote international cooperation in disaster preparedness and emergency response.
