From 8-11 June 2022, the Secretary General of ICDO, H.E. Mrs. Mariatou Yap, paid an official visit to Ghana following the invitation of the Director General of the National Disaster Management Organization of Ghana (NADMO) Hon. Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh to have official meetings.

The visit included 2 parts:

Audience with the Head of State

On 10 June 2022, the Secretary General of ICDO, H.E. Mrs. Mariatou Yap called on the President of Ghana H.E. Mr. Nana Akufo-Addo in Accra. Following themes have been discussed:

• Sensitization of ECOWAS countries as leader and President to adhere ICDO. The President took this engagement.
• International humanitarian cooperation

 

The importance of training of specialized staff and personnel was particularly emphasized and the leading role of ICDO in this context was noted with satisfaction. A general understanding was reached to develop cooperation in this regard.

 

         Closing ceremony of the international training

 

On 10 June 2022, H.E. Mrs. Mariatou and Director General Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh attended the closing ceremony of the IMCC International Training on «Intelligent Monitoring Technology : Risk Monitoring and Emergency Tracking», where they noted the importance of strengthening the emergency response capacity of the African continent

During the meeting, they also discussed about international cooperation in the field of civil protection, disaster management and agreed to include the development of training sessions, bilateral and multilateral programs to develop skills and competences of specialists in the area of civil defence to the highest level. They also looked forward to the holding of the next Meeting of Training Committee in 2022.
