In the period from 10 to 21 October, 2022 specialists from 8 ICDO Member States have been trained under the program «Elimination of emergencies at oil and gas facilities» in Saint Petersburg State Fire Service University of EMERCOM of Russia. Trainees came from the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Cameroon, the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Senegal, the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire and the Republic of Lebanon.

University professors held lectures and seminars for the experts and explained the particularities of the organization of the fire safety system at oil refineries. Modern technologies of firefighting and rescue operations at petrochemical facilities were also presented and discussed.

The course program included practical exercises using training facilities and special simulators similar to the elements of oil refineries. They helped to practise the skills of firefighting and emergency rescue operations in an unbreathable environment.

During the program, foreign specialists had the opportunity to get acquainted with the forces and facilities of the fire and rescue garrisons of Saint Petersburg and Leningrad region, to participate in the large trainings, to visit important industrial facilities such as KINEF, LLC oil refinery and Transneft Ust-Luga Port, LLC oil depot. They also had time to admire the cultural attractions of Saint Petersburg.
