International Training Course on "Management of Refugee Camps and Disaster Victims" Launched in Jordan

From April 13-17, 2025, the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO) initiated a training course titled "Management of Refugee Camps and Disaster Victims" at the Jordanian International Civil Protection Center in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. This event is part of ICDO’s ongoing annual training plan aimed at strengthening the capabilities of its member states in various areas of civil protection and crisis management.

Participants from seven ICDO member countries—Sudan, Tunisia, Palestine, Morocco, Mauritania, Algeria, Lebanon—as well as four participants from Jordan, joined the course.

The training course is designed to equip attendees with essential knowledge and practical skills necessary for the humane and effective management of camps for refugees and disaster victims. Key topics include planning, executing humanitarian response efforts, and enhancing coordination among stakeholders such as international organizations, government bodies, NGOs, and local communities.

Course objectives include:

  • Enhancing the capacity for planning, implementation, and response to humanitarian emergencies.
  • Promoting the protection of human rights and dignity for refugees and disaster victims.
  • Efficient management and dissemination of information.
  • Raising awareness about the complexities and specific issues involved in camp management.

Expected outcomes from the course:

  • Effective management of refugee and disaster victim camps.
  • Improved coordination between various humanitarian stakeholders.
  • Increased protection for the human rights and dignity of refugees and disaster victims.
