On July 25, 2025, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, met with Mr. Chen Xu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, at the headquarters of the ICDO.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on enhancing multilateral cooperation in the field of civil protection, with particular attention to emergency preparedness, disaster response coordination, and knowledge sharing.

Special emphasis was placed on leveraging technology and innovation in disaster risk reduction, early warning systems, and urban resilience strategies. The Secretary-General highlighted ICDO’s commitment to inclusive international cooperation and welcomed China’s interest in participating in joint initiatives.

The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding to advance future collaboration and strengthen the global civil defence network through continued strategic dialogue.
