On 4 September 2025, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization, Mr Arguj Kalantarli, held a meeting with H.E. Ms Larysa Belskaya, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the ICDO and the Republic of Belarus, with particular emphasis on civil defence, disaster preparedness, and risk management.

Mr.Kalantarli underscored the significance of Belarus’s recent transition from an observer to a newly joined member of the ICDO, expressing his appreciation for this pivotal development and his confidence in the establishment of a deep and mutually beneficial partnership.

H.E. Ms. Belskaya reaffirmed the Republic of Belarus’s commitment to closer engagement with the ICDO and stressed the importance of international cooperation in enhancing civil defence capacities.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to review prospective areas of collaboration and to consider initiatives aimed at strengthening ICDO’s role and activities in cooperation with the Republic of Belarus.
