The Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, held an online meeting with Brigadier (Pilot) Ali Mohammed Al-Kabaisi, Director General of the General Directorate of Civil Defence of the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Bahrain, on 5 October 2026. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on further strengthening cooperation between Bahrain and the ICDO, as well as on current developments and priorities within the Organization.
The Secretary-General briefed Brigadier General Al-Kabaisi on the ICDO’s ongoing reform and modernization process, including efforts to further strengthen the Organization’s effectiveness, enhance its engagement with Member States and international partners, and develop new areas of cooperation. The two sides also discussed possible avenues for further cooperation and practical engagement, including the ICDO’s new initiatives and areas of mutual interest.
Particular attention was given to Bahrain’s role as Vice-President of the ICDO Executive Council. The two sides exchanged views on preparations for the forthcoming sessions of the Executive Council and the General Assembly, scheduled to take place in Geneva later this month, as well as on the Organization’s priorities and further avenues for cooperation.
The Secretary-General expressed his appreciation to Brigadier General Al-Kabaisi for Bahrain’s continued engagement with the ICDO and its support for the Organization’s ongoing reform and modernization process. Both sides expressed their interest in further strengthening cooperation and shared the view that the forthcoming statutory sessions would provide an important opportunity to advance the Organization’s priorities and further strengthen cooperation among participants.
