Within the framework of his official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, met on 22 December with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Jeyhun Bayramov.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a range of issues of mutual interest and underscored the longstanding and constructive cooperation between the ICDO and the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for Azerbaijan’s continued support of the Organization and its consistent engagement in strengthening international cooperation in the field of civil defence.

The discussions also covered the ongoing institutional reforms and modernization efforts being undertaken within the ICDO, as well as information on planned future projects. In this context, the Secretary-General briefed the Minister on humanitarian missions envisaged within the Organization’s mandate, including initiatives aimed at enhancing emergency preparedness, disaster response, and humanitarian assistance.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted Azerbaijan’s extensive experience in civil defence and disaster management and reaffirmed the country’s interest in further deepening cooperation with the ICDO across areas of shared priority.
