On 22 May 2026, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, held an online meeting with Colonel Moulay Ismail El Bouyakoubi, Director General of the General Directorate of Civil Protection of the Kingdom of Morocco.

The meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on strengthening cooperation between the ICDO and the Kingdom of Morocco in the field of civil protection, disaster risk management and emergency preparedness.

During the discussions, the parties exchanged views on the current activities, reforms and modernization processes within the ICDO aimed at enhancing the Organization’s effectiveness, operational capacity and cooperation with Member States. In this regard, the Moroccan side expressed its support for the ongoing initiatives and efforts undertaken within this framework.

Special attention was also given to the training programmes and capacity-building activities conducted by the ICDO. The parties discussed opportunities for broader participation and closer engagement of experts and representatives in various training initiatives.

The meeting was held in a constructive and productive atmosphere, during which both sides reaffirmed their willingness to further strengthen cooperation and maintain close coordination in areas of mutual interest.
