The delegation of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), led by Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, Secretary General of the ICDO, is on an official visit to Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan, within the framework of participation in the 4th High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028”.
Within the framework of the Conference, Mr. Arguj Kalantarli held an official meeting with Mr. Rajabali Rahmonali, Chairman of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in the field of civil defence, emergency preparedness, and professional capacity-building for rescue services. Particular attention was devoted to the activities of the National Rescue Training Center of Tajikistan and its growing role in the preparation of specialists for emergency response operations in mountainous and disaster-prone environments.
During the discussions, the parties also exchanged views on the current activities, reforms and modernization processes within the ICDO aimed at enhancing the Organization’s effectiveness. In this regard, the support expressed by the Tajik side for the ongoing activities of the Organization was highly appreciated.
The parties discussed other matters of mutual interest and opportunities for further strengthening practical cooperation between the ICDO and the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of both sides to further develop cooperation in the field of civil defence, enhance international coordination and strengthen preparedness and resilience to emergencies.
