The Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, paid an official visit to Georgia.
Within the framework of the visit, he held an official meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia, H.E. Mr. Irakli Kobakhidze, on 31 May. The meeting focused on further strengthening cooperation between the ICDO and Georgia in the field of civil protection and emergency management, as well as on broader regional and international cooperation in related areas.
The Secretary-General briefed the Prime Minister on the ongoing reforms and modernization efforts within the Organization aimed at strengthening its international engagement. Both sides underlined Georgia's constructive and reliable role within the ICDO and welcomed its continued engagement in the Organization's activities and initiatives.
Particular attention was devoted to an initiative concerning a joint regional field exercise in the South Caucasus, with the participation of the relevant authorities of Georgia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Republic of Armenia. The sides emphasized the importance of strengthening regional coordination and transborder operational cooperation in the field of civil protection and emergency management.
The meeting also addressed additional matters of common interest and concluded with a mutual expression of readiness to continue active dialogue and strengthen practical cooperation in relevant areas.
