Within the framework of his official visit to Georgia, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, held meetings with the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Mr. Gaga Kirkitadze, as well as with the Head of the Emergency Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Mr. Teimuraz Mghebrishvili.
The discussions focused on the further development of cooperation between the ICDO and the relevant Georgian authorities in the fields of civil protection, emergency management, and disaster risk reduction. The parties exchanged views on current priorities, institutional cooperation, and prospects for expanding practical collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
Particular attention was devoted to strengthening cooperation between the ICDO and the Emergency Management Service of Georgia, including in the areas of emergency preparedness and response, capacity-building, exchange of expertise, and the development of practical cooperation mechanisms.
During the meetings, the Secretary-General also shared information regarding the ongoing reform and modernization process within the ICDO, aimed at enhancing the Organization’s operational effectiveness, international engagement, and cooperation with Member States and partners.
The meetings were held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere and concluded with a mutual expression of readiness to maintain active dialogue and further strengthen cooperation in areas of common interest.
