ICDO Secretary-General Holds Online Meeting with the Director General of Civil Protection of the Republic of Mali

On 11 June 2026, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, held an online meeting with Brigadier General Boukary Kodio, Director General of the Directorate General for Civil Protection (DGPC) of the Republic of Mali.

The meeting provided an opportunity for a constructive exchange of views on matters of mutual interest related to civil protection, disaster risk management, emergency preparedness and the further development of cooperation between the ICDO and the Republic of Mali.

During the discussions, particular attention was devoted to the ongoing reform and modernization processes being undertaken within the ICDO with a view to strengthening the Organization’s effectiveness, enhancing its operational capacity and reinforcing cooperation with Member States. In this context, the Malian side expressed its support for the efforts and initiatives being implemented under the leadership of the Secretary-General aimed at further developing the Organization and increasing its relevance in addressing contemporary challenges in the field of civil protection.

The parties also discussed opportunities for enhancing the participation of the Republic of Mali in the various activities and initiatives carried out within the framework of the ICDO, including training and capacity-building programmes, as well as other areas of mutual interest. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening technical cooperation and promoting the exchange of expertise in disaster management and emergency response.

The meeting was held in a cordial and productive atmosphere, reflecting the shared commitment of both parties to further strengthen cooperation and maintain close coordination within the framework of the ICDO’s activities and programmes.
