ICDO Secretary-General Holds Online Meeting with the Director of Civil Protection of the Republic of Senegal

On 24 June 2026, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, held an online meeting with Mr. Abdoulaye Noba, Director of Civil Protection of the Republic of Senegal.

The two sides exchanged views on the current priorities of the ICDO and discussed ways to further promote cooperation in the field of civil protection and disaster risk reduction. Particular emphasis was placed on practical cooperation and the importance of maintaining close interaction between the Organization and its Member States.

Mr. Kalantarli briefed his counterpart on the progress achieved under the ongoing reform and modernization process of the ICDO, aimed at strengthening the Organization’s effectiveness and operational capabilities. He also expressed his appreciation for Senegal’s continued support for the ICDO’s activities and initiatives.

The parties also highlighted the importance of close coordination and active engagement among Member States in addressing increasingly complex disaster risks. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening preparedness and resilience, as well as on enhancing cooperation through the ICDO’s International Monitoring and Coordination Centre (IMCC) and its capabilities.

Held in a cordial and productive atmosphere, the meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to maintaining regular contacts and further advancing cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
