On 24 June 2026, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, met with Brigadier General André Patrice BITOTE, Director General of the International School for Security Forces (EIFORCES) of the Republic of Cameroon, who headed a delegation visiting the ICDO Headquarters in Geneva.
Welcoming the delegation, the Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for their visit and highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation with specialized educational and training institutions in support of capacity-building in civil protection and emergency management.
Brigadier General BITOTE thanked the Secretary-General for the warm welcome and presented an overview of EIFORCES. He noted that, in addition to training personnel from Cameroon, the School hosts participants from a number of countries across the region, thereby serving as an important regional centre for professional education and training.
The Secretary-General presented the ICDO's mandate and ongoing activities, with particular emphasis on the Organization's international training programmes and capacity-building initiatives. Discussions also explored the potential for organizing training courses and professional development activities, while the Secretary-General outlined the ICDO's mechanisms for implementing training programmes in cooperation with specialized academies and educational institutions of its Member States.
Both sides emphasized the importance of professional education and specialized training in strengthening civil protection capacities and agreed to maintain dialogue with a view to exploring future opportunities for cooperation.
