On 25 June 2026, a graduation ceremony was held for firefighters of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound who successfully completed the Basic Firefighting Course at the Jordanian International Civil Protection Center. The ceremony was held under the patronage of the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and attended by the Director of Public Security and the Director of Civil Defense.

The training course was conducted from 14 to 25 June 2026 and was designed to strengthen the operational capabilities of firefighters assigned to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound while enhancing their preparedness for fire emergencies at one of the world's most significant religious and historical sites.

The intensive programme combined theoretical instruction with practical exercises covering fire behaviour and classification, fire prevention measures, the use of portable fire extinguishers, hose handling techniques, firefighting tactics, evacuation procedures, search and rescue operations, and firefighter safety. Live-fire simulation exercises further enhanced participants' operational readiness and decision-making skills.

Eight firefighters from the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound participated in the course, providing an important opportunity to strengthen the professional competencies required to protect lives, property, and cultural heritage sites.

Throughout the programme, participants received practical instruction from qualified instructors of the Jordan Civil Defence Directorate, ensuring that internationally recognized firefighting procedures and safety standards were applied.

The successful completion of the course reflects the continued commitment of the Jordanian International Civil Protection Center and the ICDO to strengthening professional capacities and supporting the protection of cultural heritage and human life through high-quality international training.
