On 26 June 2026, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, held an online meeting with Mr. Djimasse Okidjin, Director General of Civil Protection of the Central African Republic.
The meeting focused on the current priorities and opportunities to further strengthen cooperation in the fields of civil protection, disaster risk reduction and institutional capacity development.
During the meeting, Mr. Kalantarli presented the progress achieved under the ICDO’s ongoing reform and modernization process aimed at enhancing the Organization’s effectiveness, strengthening cooperation with Member States and reinforcing support for national civil protection authorities. He expressed his appreciation for the Central African Republic’s continued engagement with the Organization.
Mr. Djimasse Okidjin, in turn, reaffirmed his country's support for the ICDO’s ongoing reforms and initiatives. Recalling the Central African Republic’s long-standing membership in the Organization, he also emphasized his country's intention to play a more active role in the ICDO’s activities and to further strengthen its engagement within the Organization.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of closer cooperation among Member States in addressing evolving disaster risks, promoting the exchange of expertise and enhancing coordination through the ICDO’s International Monitoring and Coordination Centre (IMCC).
The meeting was held in a constructive atmosphere and concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to maintaining close dialogue and further developing cooperation on matters of common interest.
