On 29 June 2026, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, held an online meeting with First Class Police General Albert Ngoto, Commander of the Civil Security Command of the Republic of the Congo.
The meeting served as an opportunity to review the current state of cooperation between the ICDO and the Republic of the Congo and to exchange views on further strengthening collaboration in civil protection, disaster risk reduction and institutional development.
During the discussions, First Class Police General Albert Ngoto reaffirmed the Republic of the Congo’s support for the ICDO’s ongoing activities and welcomed the Organization’s efforts to enhance cooperation with its Member States. He also expressed his country's interest in expanding its participation in ICDO initiatives and further developing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Mr. Kalantarli, in turn, presented the progress of the ICDO’s ongoing reform and modernization process, emphasizing the Organization’s efforts to strengthen its effectiveness, operational capabilities and cooperation with national civil protection authorities. He underlined the importance of active engagement by Member States in advancing the Organization’s objectives.
The parties also exchanged views on the importance of improving coordination, sharing professional expertise and strengthening preparedness to address emerging disaster risks, in supporting closer cooperation among Member States.
The meeting concluded in a constructive atmosphere, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to maintaining regular dialogue and further expanding cooperation within the framework of the ICDO.
