On 1 July 2026, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, held an online meeting with Mr. Kassi Gabin Amankou, Director General of the National Office of Civil Protection (ONPC) of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the current state of cooperation between the ICDO and the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, with particular attention to further strengthening collaboration in the areas of civil protection, disaster risk reduction and institutional development.

During the discussions, Mr. Kalantarli briefed his counterpart on the progress of the ICDO’s ongoing reform and modernization process, highlighting the Organization’s efforts to enhance its effectiveness, strengthen cooperation with Member States and further support national civil protection authorities. He also expressed his appreciation for Côte d'Ivoire’s active engagement within the Organization, particularly in its capacity as a member of the Executive Council.

Mr. Kassi Gabin Amankou reaffirmed Côte d'Ivoire’s continued support for the ICDO’s reform efforts and ongoing initiatives, while emphasizing the importance of maintaining close cooperation between the Organization and its Member States.

The meeting was held in a constructive atmosphere and concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening cooperation and maintaining regular dialogue.
