ICDO Secretary-General and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of the Sudan Discuss Humanitarian Cooperation

The Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, held a meeting at the Organization's Headquarters in Geneva with H.E. Mr. Mohieldin Salim Ahmed Ibrahim, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of the Sudan.

The meeting focused on the humanitarian situation in the Sudan and its impact on civil protection and emergency response capacities. The two sides discussed opportunities to further strengthen cooperation between the ICDO and the Sudan, particularly in the areas of capacity-building, professional training, institutional development, early warning systems, and other initiatives aimed at enhancing national civil protection capabilities.

Secretary-General Kalantarli also briefed the Minister on the ICDO's current activities, ongoing institutional reform process, and preparations for the Organization's forthcoming sessions. Both sides reaffirmed the importance of strengthening international cooperation and coordination in addressing humanitarian challenges and supporting the resilience of Member States.

The meeting also followed up on the Secretary-General's previous discussions with the Minister of Interior of the Republic of the Sudan, held at the ICDO in December 2025, reaffirming the shared commitment to advancing practical cooperation.

The meeting concluded with both sides expressing their commitment to further expanding cooperation between the ICDO and the Republic of the Sudan in support of humanitarian action, disaster preparedness, and civil protection.
